“Before I started Sober Jo’s group program, I was in a pretty uncertain and unhappy place for quite some time. I wouldn’t say that I considered myself to be a big drinker, but I knew my relationship with drink wasn’t a healthy one. When I did have a drink, I’d drink too much and couldn’t quite handle it, which created problems. My real issue however was, that I relied on it to make me happy, associating it with my youth, fun and good times when in reality, nothing good was coming from it anymore. I wanted to find true happiness. I have a busy life, full-time Job, family, and I coach in my spare time. I’d drift through the week battling with myself, wanting a drink but knowing that if I did, it would impact my family and, my life both physically and mentally in the days to come.
This was making me really unhappy, I had tried a number of times to turn things around and was getting nowhere. I knew Jo through friends and often met up at social gatherings where I always felt a pull towards her magnetic personality however, like at many parties, as the alcohol flowed, we bounced about, perhaps had a drunken hug, but never really truly knowing each other. I don’t really like this phrase, but mentally I had hit rock bottom. I reached out to Jo as I knew she did sober coaching, and we had a self discovery call.
This then lead to me enrolling on her sober group coaching program, best decision I have made for myself in a long time. Jo is an incredible coach, the energy, experience, and encouragement she brings to this program is remarkable. The group aspect creates a support network like no other, creating together a foundation of trust and true connections with people on similar journeys and wave length to you. It took me a good 6 weeks of inner work from the sober prompts, talking it out during the sharing circles and, challenging myself with social sobriety to really begin to see that the benefits were indeed beginning to outweigh a bottle of wine.
The program has changed my life, it has helped me to better understand myself, change negative thought patterns, create friendships and most of all, it has helped me find true happiness through staying sober. I am so thankful to Jo and the amazing people she connected me with. I remain sober to this day, and I am so excited about what the future may hold. I recommend this program to anyone that maybe questioning their relationship with alcohol, looking to build self confidence, connect with like minded people and, discover true happiness x”
