“I reached out to Jo after a pretty grotty year after losing my lovely dad and having to focus on professional qualification exams. I was struggling to manage my mood and my motivation. I was so stressed and confused that I couldn’t make decisions at all, and I was struggling to do things for me (I have always been a bit of a people pleaser)…
As my anxiety was pretty terrible at that time, I also decided I wanted to give up booze but I didn’t feel I could as I was nervous to go to events and disappoint those that wanted me to join them in having a drink. Hangovers for me have always been horrendous and the weekend after a Friday evening out for drinks was usually a write off. I was finding I was working hard in the week, then going for drinks Friday evening, recovering for the rest of the weekend and then back to work on Monday. I only drank at the weekends and didn’t have a problem with alcohol, I just wanted to give it up completely as it wasn’t serving me. I had given up booze a couple of times before but always given in eventually so I felt I needed some support.
When I saw Jo’s campaign on social media, I booked a discovery call with her. Instantly there was a connection and I felt like I’d known her for years. She was open, honest, whacky and authentic, whilst being professional, compassionate and understanding.
I signed up to Jo’s 12 week course of one-to-one sessions. Jo was instantly supportive. she compassionately and carefully put me out of my comfort zone. From going to big functions sober, to learning to say no to people, looking after myself and most of all she helped me to finally stop social drinking (something that is much harder to do than it appears). Only yesterday, I posted something on Instagram about my journey, which is something I would have never done comfortably back in March 2022 when I started with Jo as I would always worry about what other people thought.
Only a small part of our journey together has been about alcohol use. Jo has become my coach on all aspects of my life and helps me to come to decisions about things for myself rather than others. She is also helping me to discover the good parts of myself as well as facing the “ugly” parts and dealing with those feelings as they come up.
I am now on my second set of one-to-one sessions as I felt that Jo was so crucial to my journey of self discovery and she is helping me to better myself, be happier and be accepting of myself.
Although Jo is absolutely fabulous when it comes to being sober, she can definitely help you if drinking is not the issue.
Jo is not only my coach, she is now a very good friend and we enjoy a good natter and we support one another in our own journeys. I cannot recommend enough at least having a discovery call with Jo. She is a truly inspirational woman who has her own struggles but faces these head on and gives you the tools to do the same. When you meet her, she 100% inspires you to be like her.”
