WORKPLACE WELLBEING
How a charity challenge changed my life for the better
Jo shares her
Join Jo and Andy for an informative and engaging session on workplace wellbeing. This judgment-free conversation will raise awareness around how everyone is different and the importance of supporting friends, family, and colleagues. In this one-hour lunch and learn session, you'll hear about their background and stories, explore mindset and mindfulness, and learn how to actively support your community.
But that's not all! You'll also get to try some delicious AF (alcohol-free) drinks and cocktails, including a drink on arrival (AF Sparkling Wine / Kombucha) and a health drink to take home with you.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn, engage, and connect with your colleagues. Contact Jo or Andy to book your session today!
Meet Sober Jo
I chose to do a year-long charity challenge in 2019 to stop drinking for one year to hold myself accountable whilst raising money for a good cause - WIN WIN! As someone who wasn’t great at doing things for me but loved helping others, I knew I wouldn’t let the charity down.
The challenge changed my life for the better.
I am now an accredited coach four years later, specialising in ‘grey area’ sobriety. I’ve created a sober programme, working with people 1:1 or as groups, and I share my story with businesses to raise awareness and host Sober Session events.
I am supporting Yvonne to keep people engaged with the challenge, offering additional support where people may need it.
Meet Yvonne
This was initially a personal challenge for me, in memory of my beautiful sister who lost her life to alcohol and also to help raise vital funds for Caring Cooks, a charity which you may know is very close to my heart.
When I first had the idea of quitting alcohol and spoke to friends about my crazy plan, it became very apparent that more and more people are rethinking their relationship with alcohol and would also like to take the challenge, be it for a “break from the booze”, a complete lifestyle change or simply to challenge themselves for a good cause. I’m so happy to say that over 40 amazing people have already signed up!
Six months of sobriety can be a tall order therefore I’ve adapted the challenge to six choices, ranging from one to six months, all starting from the 2nd January 2023.
I really would love for you to join me on this unknown and slightly scary journey…or you could sponsor me!
Our Goals
We hope to raise £20,000
£7,000 is the approximate annual cost of running the Caring Cooks 'Weekly Meal Service'. This is a lifeline service for vulnerable families during difficult times, whether it be a change in financial circumstances, medical, bereavement or other. The service has been running for over eight years now, and with more families needing support during the cost of living crisis, we need it more than ever. This service runs for 6 to 12 weeks per family and aims to bridge the gap during difficult times. In the last 12 months, our team of volunteers cooked 1354 meals and delivered them to our families every Saturday. We also provide our families with surplus food from Coop St.Peters and M&S St John. You can see below how your fundraising efforts will fund the Caring Cooks Meal Service and go towards supporting the ‘Let’s Get Cooking Programme’.
We want to show people that being sober doesn’t have to be boring; it can be FUN.
