Like Mother Like Daughter
like mother, like daughter.
A proverb which means that daughters resemble their mothers.
One of the things I haven’t mentioned yet is that my dear Mum is joining me on this journey too, for as long as I am on it for - another good reason to stick with it!
We are both very different, but one thing we have in common is not having the ability to stop once we’ve had a drink. Both also suffering from terrible hangovers the next day leaving us unable to function and attached to the sofa until bed time calls.
I was very impressed with my Mum when she said that she’d join me, as it is a big lifestyle change to make. She experienced her first ‘challenging’ night the other evening (a night where she was the only person not ticking at the table) and she successfully managed it, not a hangover in sight the next morning. VERY proud daughter alert. I am yet to experience a proper challenge yet, as am still unwell - the thought of a drink hasn’t even crossed my mind - feel a little bit of a cheat at the moment!! I guess at least this horrible virus has kick started my year of abstinence - always think of the positives 👍
In case you haven’t worked it out yet, the photo is of my beautiful family, 4 1/2 years ago, on my festival themed wedding day. I’m the one in the dress, obviously (hair has changed a bit since then) and my Mum is the lady wearing the Minnie Mouse ears, obviously!
